Washington | US President Donald Trump wants $US5 billion ($6.8 billion) from companies creating a new US-based TikTok venture directed toward teaching American children "the real history of our country".
He said on Saturday (Sunday AEST) that he had approved a transaction between Oracle, Walmart and ByteDance to create a new company called TikTok Global to run the US video-sharing app. As part of the arrangement, Mr Trump told reporters the companies agreed to contribute $US5 billion ($6.8 billion) to an education foundation.
