French Senate approves tax as US opens probe into digital levy
Paris | France's Senate on Thursday gave final approval to a tax on big technology companies, potentially opening a new front in a trade row between Washington and the European Union.
The 3 per cent levy will apply to revenue from digital services earned in France by firms with over €25 million ($40 million) in French revenue and €750 million euros ($1 billion) worldwide. It is due to kick in retroactively from the start of 2019.
