Social media age ban is good for kids and parents
The realpolitik is that many families will welcome the signal that the government is in their corner in the fight to keep kids off social media.
Prime minister Anthony Albanese has seized upon a barbecue stopper issue to help build support for his government ahead of next year’s federal election. On Friday, Mr Albanese announced Labor will legislate world-first rules banning children aged under 16 from being on social media.
The ban made headlines around the world, highlighting the growing concern about social media’s intrusion into the lives of children and families and its toxic effect.
