‘Not honourable, but lawful’: Uber justifies using spyware on rival

Lawyers for ridesharing giant Uber say the use of spyware software to take private driver information from its fallen rival GoCatch was not akin to burglary because it had insufficient security protection.

Presenting the case for Uber, barrister John Sheahan, KC, sought to paint the company’s actions in establishing its Australian UberX business as being good for the public, despite it admitting that it knew it was acting illegally.
