Next Gardasil should be manufactured here, says vaccine inventor
The co-inventor of the technology behind the HPV cervical cancer vaccine says that if he were developing the drug today he would push to have it made in Australia, keeping the wealth, jobs and social benefits onshore.
“We knew how to do it, but we didn’t have the facilities,” Professor Ian Frazer told The Australian Financial Review before meeting Industry and Science Minister Ed Husic for talks about how to ensure Australia’s next medical breakthrough is manufactured locally.
