Introduction of the national broadband network in regional towns is set to cause a change in the future planning of expensive data centre locations, experts have predicted.

A shift to more technology investment in regional areas will be highlighted on Tuesday as ASX-listed telecommunications provider Anittel will disclose that it is scoping a data centre on the outskirts of Townsville in Queensland.
