Anthropic PBC plans to spend $US50 billion ($76 billion) to build custom data centres for artificial intelligence work in several US locations, including Texas and New York, the latest expensive pledge for infrastructure to support the AI boom.
The new sites, which Anthropic is developing with UK-based Fluidstack, will start coming online throughout 2026, the company said in a statement. The project marks the first major data centre build-out that the AI firm has taken on directly, rather than through cloud-computing partners such as Amazon and Alphabet’s Google.
