Altium soars on $9b takeover offer after ‘torrid ride’

Japanese semiconductor company Renesas Electronics will acquire Altium for $9.1 billion in cash, striking one of the largest software deals in Australian history.

The board of Altium unanimously endorsed the bid by Renesas to buy the electronics design software company for $68.50 a share. The price represents a 33.6 per cent premium to Altium’s last closing price on Wednesday, and a 30.9 per cent premium to its all-time high.
