The Queensland government is expected to join Star Entertainment Group’s rescue party as the embattled casino operator stares down a multimillion-dollar tax bill, giving new chief executive Steve McCann more breathing room to right the ship.

Street Talk understands Steven Miles’ state government, advised by law firm McCullough Robertson Lawyers, has all but agreed to turn unpaid and incoming payments into a loan structure.
