Infrastructure manager Morrison & Co is understood to have hit the lead in the auction for Victoria’s motor registry unit, with expectations of a deal in coming days.

Sources said Morrison’s camp were tapped for a final round of “black box” due diligence earlier in the week, putting it in pole position to secure the 40-year contract with Victoria.
