The seeds were sown a decade ago but now may be the time for GrainCorp to harvest an acquisition: Ridley Corporation.

The nation's largest listed grains handler is emerging from a period of deep capital investment but is staring down the pipeline of constrained earnings as unseasonably warm and dry conditions cruel hopes for a large winter harvest.
