Bass Strait liability worth about $US1b in Woodside deal

There are two issues Woodside Petroleum as chief executive Meg O’Neill fronts investors to run them through the group’s big $19 billion oil and gas buy.

The first is that the unusual all-scrip deal, where BHP Group would offload its incoming Woodside shares to its own investors, will put Woodside stock in the hands of sellers and create an overhang.
