Alinta’s Singaporean suitor ready to sign on the dotted line

Alinta Energy boss Jeff Dimery and his army of advisers are in line for some downtime this Christmas, as the gentailer’s multi-year search for a new owner finally hits the mark.

Street Talk can reveal Singapore-listed energy player Sembcorp is expected to sign a deal to buy Australia’s fourth-largest utility company as early as Thursday. It comes after the mooted merger was understood to have been discussed during Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s first official visit to Australia to meet Anthony Albanese in October.
