As Qantas shareholders wait to find out the exact details on Alan Joyce’s golden parachute, the spotlight has now firmly fixed itself on the now-former CEO’s chief enabler.

Richard Goyder, the sheikh of WA, currently sits as chairman of not one but three organisations: Qantas, Woodside and the AFL. Overseeing just one of these nation-critical institutions would be a handful. Not for Goyds, who must some mornings feel like he’s in two places at once.
