Only last month, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos broke Los Angeles property records by paying $US165 million ($252 million) for David Geffen’s Beverly Hills estate.
The previous record stood for barely two months, set when News Corp and Fox Corp chairman Lachlan Murdoch and his wife Sarah paid $US150 million for Chartwell, made famous as the home of TV family The Beverly Hillbillies.
