NBN Co chief Stephen Rue has long been Australia’s best-paid bureaucrat. That didn’t cease when he resigned on May 6 to take up the top job at Optus, which was vacated last year by the doomed Kelly Bayer Rosmarin.

Rue’s NBN Co notice period extends to November 4, and until then, he’ll secure what’s expected to be a further $1.4 million, on top of the $2.8 million he secured in his last year at NBN.
