Macmahon meets litigation funders over Newcrest dispute
Myriam RobinRear Window editorMacmahon Holdings told the ASX last week that it was seeking Newcrest's approval to quit formal dispute resolution and proceed straight to litigation, after the two companies couldn't agree on what rates Newcrest should pay Macmahon to work its Telfer gold mine.
It certainly seems they're serious. Macmahon has since met with commercial litigation funders IMF Bentham and Harbour, hoping to secure their support to take on Newcrest over the loss-making contract, won in 2015 for the entire life of the mine. Which has ended up being longer than anyone expected.
