Freelancer's chief still prepared for the all-nighters
Myriam RobinSenior WriterWe've heard of couches and beanbags providing a few hours of shut-eye during all-nighters at many a start-up, but as the now-listed Freelancer.com has grown, it appears its CEO Matt Barrie has taken the opportunity to make himself more comfortable. While retaining, of course, a certain start-up flair for optimisation. World domination doesn't wait on a commute.
On Monday, Barrie fronted court in the unfair dismissal case brought against the company and Barrie personally by former talent and operations VP Matthew O'Kane. The CEO countered some of the earlier allegations made in the case. But the most intriguing thing to come up so far – to our ears anyway – was revealed last Wednesday, in cross-examination of Freelancer's deputy CFO Christopher Koch.
