The consortium of Australian universities that owns 40 per cent of IDP Education will soon sell down 15 per cent of the $6.6 billion company, while dividing up ownership of the remaining 25 per cent it controls among consortium members.

The impending block trade, to take place this year, is no secret. IDP announced it last month. And even if it hadn’t, the nation’s brokers are smart cookies and would have figured it out. And we could have done the same, if only by watching the “buy” recommendations piling up on the Bloomberg monitor.
