Toronto joins Vancouver in taxing foreign home buyers to cool hot housing market

Canada's biggest city, Toronto, will follow the lead of Pacific port Vancouver and will impose a 15 per cent foreign home buyer tax in a bid to cool its runaway housing market.

The decision by the province of Ontario's government will impose a 15 per cent "Non-Resident Speculation Tax" on non-Canadians and non-permanent residents buying residential properties in the metropolitan area of almost 7 million people.
