Rise in Sydney's house prices in 2018 still likely: SQM Research

Sydney house prices stand a good chance of posting a growth in 2018 despite expectations they will fall by as much as 4 per cent, property research group SQM Research managing director Louis Christopher says.

Mr Christopher, who has previously accurately predicted house prices, said he was holding onto his forecasts across Australia - in particular, to a 4 to 8 per cent rise for Sydney and 7 to 12 per cent growth for Melbourne.
