LU Simon said it was ignorant of growing concerns about the fire safety of aluminium composite panels and would never have covered the lacrosse building with combustible cladding if it had known about them.

Jim Moschoyiannis, the builder's construction director, said on Tuesday he was unaware of of a series of reports and observations, including by fire authorities in the ACT and NSW, raising concerns about combustibility of the panels prior to the construction of the 21-storey Melbourne tower that suffered a potentially fatal fire in 2014.
