We're not wallpaper: new Simonds chairman Ian Kirkwood defends independence

Newly appointed Simonds Group chairman Iain Kirkwood has defended the founding family's decision to shake up the board, saying other shareholders also wanted a different composition with new directors.

Mr Kirkwood, who took over from retiring founder Gary Simonds on Wednesday in a restructure that appointed Mr Simonds' son Mark as executive director and added two family nominees, Piers O'Brien and Scott Mahony, as directors, said the wish for a restructure was widespread.
