Buyer competition for inner-city apartments could intensify in the coming months as cashed-up tree-changers and people returning to work hunt for a bolthole, experts say.

The growing trend is a reversal of the move to the regions that swept the country during the pandemic, and a shift from an old pattern where people buy weekend escape-type properties in the regions but keep their family home in the city, demographer Mark McCrindle said.
