What you need to earn to afford a home in a capital city
Housing affordability has hit its worst levels in the three decades since data has been tracked, revealing a widening wealth gap between people who own a home and those who don’t, a new report says.
The median income household can afford 14 per cent of homes sold this year – the lowest share since records began in 1995, property research firm Proptrack said. Three years ago, median income earners could afford 43 per cent of homes.
