Australia’s largest homebuilder has backed the Allan government’s releasing of land in Melbourne’s outer fringes for development but says more action is needed to cut red tape, speed up approvals and boost consumer confidence.

Ms Allan on Wednesday unveiled a 10-year plan to release land across 27 Melbourne greenfield areas as part of her government’s blitz of housing announcements.
