Historic Balmain East property Brookfield has sold for about $16 million, clocking a new waterfront high for the upmarket inner west suburb of Sydney.

The 1895-built two-storey harbourside property on Simmons Street last traded for $6.56 million in 2014, and was most recently sold by vendor Dianne Mahony.
