I'm meeting adventurer, property developer and recipient of the Order of Australia Medal in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours Paul Hameister at one of his favourite restaurants, the Pantry, a popular cafe on Church Street in the affluent Melbourne bayside suburb of Brighton.

That we're doing this lunch is unexpected. When we caught up for coffee, a few months ago, Hameister was adamant about keeping a low media profile.
