Ban on public auctions puts housing market on hold

The ban on public auctions and open home inspections announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison will bring the real estate market to a standstill in the short-term, experts say.

"My view is that we're likely to see the property markets go into a bit of a hiatus period, similar to what we get over Christmas and New Year, where there's not many transaction occurring at all," said Louis Christopher, managing director of SQM Research.
