Unibail recruits Aussie tech firm to get mall tenants to net zero
Paris | European shopping centre giant Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield has hired an Australian tech start-up to measure and rate the sustainability practices of its tenants, as part of a renewed drive to crack net-zero emissions across its portfolio.
URW’s strategy also includes spending €8 million ($13 million) a year on an eightfold increase in rooftop solar at its malls, rolling out electric-vehicle charging points, switching to heat pumps and smart metering, and the greening of its construction activity.
