Tourism gimmicks won’t save the office wastelands of Canary Wharf

To be fair, it is at least a plan. As the office workers for whom Canary Wharf was built have left to work from home, the financial district is proposing to rip chunks out of the iconic HSBC tower to turn it into a tourist attraction.

Heck, given that it was known as the “Tower of Doom” by HSBC employees, perhaps they could include a ghost train whirling between floors, or put a huge casino somewhere inside its cavernous interior so that you could lose all your money more efficiently than the traders ever could.
