Scentre Group chief executive Peter Allen has called for a reduction in the rental relief landlords are required to provide to retailers because shoppers have returned to malls and retail sales have rebounded.

Mr Allen, who is also chairman of the Shopping Centre Council of Australia, said the time had come to wind back the mandatory code of conduct that was forced on landlords and tenants in the early days of the pandemic.
