Singaporean billionaire brings Hilton to Hobart

Accommodation giant Hilton will make its debut in Tasmania this year after striking a deal to manage a new Hobart hotel developed by Singaporean billionaire Koh Wee Meng’s Fragrance Group.

The 206-room hotel, which is being built on the site of the former Myer homewares store at 179 Macquarie Street – a short walk from lively Salamanca Place and the Hobart waterfront – will be run as a DoubleTree by Hilton, a full-service, but more affordable, premium brand famous for serving guests a warm chocolate chip cookie on arrival.
