Hotel building boom hurts performance

The hotel construction boom is expected to peak in 2020, but will continue to deliver high volumes of new hotel rooms to the market in the years after that, new analysis shows.
The latest figures compiled by market analysts STR show the total number of hotel rooms surged beyond 300,000 across 5600 properties in November and will rise to more than 316,000 rooms by 2025.
