Australian Unity trust buys $220m aged care portfolio

Australian Unity Healthcare Property Trust has boosted its presence in South Australia with the $220 million purchase of a portfolio of nine residential aged care assets under a sale-and-leaseback deal with operator Bolton Clarke.

The acquisition on a starting income yield of 5.49 per cent – Bolton Clarke has a minimum 20-year lease on the properties – lifts the $3.6 billion trust’s South Australian exposure to 11 sites and its SA weighting to 8 per cent of an east coast-dominated hospital, medical centre and aged care portfolio.
