Why anxious mums are a key election issue

One of the biggest issues in Queensland’s state election will be access to maternity services in regional and rural areas.

Tayla Daley is 26 weeks pregnant and grappling with the anxiety felt by many expecting mums in regional Queensland.

Staff shortages across the state have led to prolonged closures of maternity services in a number of rural and regional areas, forcing many in those communities to book caesarean sections in hospitals far from home or risk delivering their babies on the side of the road.
