Victoria’s worker compensation scheme ‘fundamentally broken’

Victoria’s Workcover scheme is “fundamentally broken”, a state government spokeswoman has said, two years after an auditor-general’s report warned that the workers’ compensation scheme risked becoming “financially unsustainable”.
WorkCover’s claims liability has tripled since 2010, according to the government, mainly driven by the increased cost of weekly income support.
