When Trade Minister Don Farrell manages to secure a meeting with his US counterpart Howard Lutnick, you can bet he will deliver a familiar line about why Australia should be exempt from tariffs.
Farrell will point out to Lutnick that, despite Donald Trump’s concern about the trade deficit, the US has recorded a surplus with Australia since Harry Truman’s presidency in 1952.
