Templeton in grip of rival interests
Templeton Global Growth Fund has become the latest listed investment fund to be caught in the classic squeeze between the interests of institutional investors with a short-term focus and the long-term aspirations of small investors.
Yesterday's at times acrimonious annual meeting brought these issues to a head over the company's failure to come up with a buyback plan that would deliver decent after-tax returns for the big institutional holders without destroying the fund.
