A Melbourne-based hydrogen fuel cell startup says it's time to move past the technology's troubled history and embrace a vastly improved new version that is on the cusp of commercial viability.

Applied Nano Technologies is seeking $7.5 million in new capital to roll out hydrogen fuel cells in Australia based on technology developed by a Canadian-belgian company, Hydrogenics, and is a surprise bidder in the South Australian government's grid storage tender.
