SA cut off from National Electricity Market

South Australia remained without power on Wednesday night after a destructive storm cell shut down the state's electricity network.

The state - which has been the focus of national debate because of its reliance on renewable energy - was isolated from the National Electricity Market at 4.18pm, according to the Australian Energy Market Operator which runs the country's gas and electricity market.
