PM wants inquiry into predatory pricing allegations against Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton

Treasurer Joe Hockey is expected to announce a broad-ranging inquiry into the iron ore industry that will examine allegations of predatory behaviour against Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.

Discussions on Friday centred on finalising the scope of an inquiry made up of lower and upper-house MPs. Former iron ore industry consultant, economist and Liberal MP Angus Taylor emerged as most likely to head it. It would likely be dominated by government MPs given sensitivities over possible impacts on mining companies' share prices.
