NSW racing plan threatens to split Coalition party room
The Minns government has introduced contentious legislation that would extend the tenure of Racing NSW’s chairman, but it faces crossbench opposition and is threatening to split the Coalition party room.
The legislation introduced on Tuesday would pave the way for Russell Balding’s term to be extended to 14 years as the head of the body, which coordinates racing in the state and is responsible for overseeing chief executive Peter V’landys, one of the industry’s most powerful figures.
