Navy a regional pacesetter in defence plan

The centrepiece of Prime Minister Tony Abbott's 20 year $275 billion plus defence plan will be the rebuilding of the Royal Australian Navy but its release is likely to be delayed by a further two months.
The Australian Financial Review understands Mr Abbott's defence white paper which lays out a strategic vision and defence equipment wishlist and was commissioned last year was due for release in August but is now not due until October.
