Liberal party must be a broad and inclusive church
All institutions need to pick the best people on their merits, yet half the population is significantly underrepresented in one of Australia’s major political parties.
The lack of women representing the Liberal Party in the federal parliament is in the news again just months before an election in which the votes of professional women will help determine if Peter Dutton makes it to The Lodge.
Heather Ruddock, the wife of former Liberal cabinet minister Philip, has quit the party in frustration at the underrepresentation of women in its ranks. She will now support the teal candidate standing against Liberal MP Julian Leeser in her husband’s former seat of Berowra.
