Volatile iron ore markets are expected to dampen enthusiasm by local investors to fund fresh mining projects, potentially opening the door for a fresh wave of Asian investment to the sector.

Westoz funds management executive director Dermot Woods told Financial Review Sunday that mining groups, particularly small to medium sized companies, would find it difficult to raise capital for expansion.
