Imports blamed as solar plant closes

Australia’s only manufacturer of solar cells for roof-top panels will close its Sydney plant, in a blow to the federal government’s efforts to sell its carbon price scheme.
In announcing the decision to lay off 30 workers in its Sydney solar cell facility, Silex blamed cheap imports and recent decisions by federal and NSW governments to wind back support for solar photovoltaic.
