Ice hockey tournament cancelled due to anti-Israel ‘security concerns’
Ice Hockey Australia has dumped an international tournament set to be held in Melbourne due to what it said were fears that Israel’s presence could make it too dangerous for players and spectators, while Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has condemned a new instance of antisemitic graffiti in Sydney.
IHA president and director Ryan O’Handley last month advised the International Ice Hockey Federation that a tournament originally scheduled in Melbourne from late April to early May featuring Australia, Israel, Belgium, Serbia, Netherlands and the UAE, would be scrapped.
