Helen Rosamond’s fate to be decided in two months

Max Mason

It will be another two months until we hear the fate of National Australia Bank fraudster Helen Rosamond.

Last November, a jury found Rosamond, who has been in jail since December, guilty of 90 of 92 fraud charges laid against her. She was accused of defrauding NAB by sending falsified and inflated invoices from her event management company, Human Group. Rosamond spent millions of embezzled funds on herself and for gifts for Rogers, including a house, holidays, a caravan and prestige car, to ensure the invoices were paid.

On Wednesday morning, a new expert witness – clinical psychologist Dr Marianne Plahn – gave evidence after holding three interviews, each two hours, with Rosamond, where she conducted a Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) and a number of psychometrics tests.

The court heard evidence from Dr Plahn that Rosamond had symptoms of various personality disorders, including narcissistic, adjustment, attachment and dissociative personality disorders. However, Dr Plahn said she had not diagnosed Rosamond with the disorders, and would require consultation with a psychiatrist and further testing to make that conclusion.

However, the Crown submitted that Dr Plahn, as a clinical psychologist, not a forensic psychologist, could not draw conclusions between the alleged disorders and Rosamond’s offences.

Judge Robert Sutherland reserved his judgment for the sentencing until June 30.
