Zempilas’ shot at WA leadership ‘very doable’: Campbell Newman
Former Queensland premier Campbell Newman believes new West Australian Liberal aspirant Basil Zempilas can lead the languishing party to the next state election from outside the parliament.
Mr Newman, who led the Queensland LNP to victory in 2012 before securing a seat, said the move was “very doable” if the Liberal party room should decide to back the current Perth Lord Mayor as Liberal leader ahead of the 2025 WA state election.
